A Journey Begins With One Step (with lots of focus, determination and blind faith)…

Unicom Services was founded by Bruce Kullberg in 1991.  Over the years, Mr. Kullberg has received local and national
recognition through innovative and creative services. Bruce started his computer career in the early 1980’s when he
purchased a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A personal computer which was connected to an old black & white TV. He learn to
write Basic Language and soon wrote a few programs including ‘Galaxy Invader’ type program which was free to
download on CompuServe.  After that, he was forever hooked on computers.

Bruce is a native of Columbus, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army in 1970 during the Vietnam era.  After
attending the Defense Information School (DINFOS), by the time he was 19 years old, he was Editor of the
Ft. Greely, Alaska weekly newspaper, The Buffalo.   He was a  journalist with the Ohio National Guard during the
early 1970's. (Access Ft. Greely on Facebook which Bruce created and maintains for those who have been stationed at this remote military base.) He was honorable discharged from the U.S. Army and Ohio National Guard, and received Certificate of Achievements for his performance and contributions to duty while proudly serving his country.

Having attended Ohio State University, his experiences includes President of Kullberg Flooring Inc., National Network Director of  The Entrepreneurship Institute, and was involved with several start-up manufacturing ventures including Creative Marble Products, Inc., and Lunch Bag Lingo, Inc.

Before starting Unicom Services, he kept busy with the evolution of computer online services, including:

Once the Internet became available to the public in the early 1990’s, the Online Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) were soon a thing of the past. With faster Internet speed, more information available and easy connection, people welcomed the World Wide Web. Most of the first sites were text only, but with the development of HTML, web browsers made it easier to navigate and offered pictures, colors, animation, videos and interesting graphics and fonts.  Officially launched on August 6, 1991, the WWW changed the world as we knew it.  [History of Internet]

In the early 1990’s, Bruce was creating HTML websites and started building and selling custom computer systems and parts. Even though he was online with Unicom, and had created a website for national celebrity Jerry Springer’s Show and others, the computer hardware side of Unicom Services was developing into a full time business. After a very successful weekend in an annual ‘garage sale’ with a local computer club, he found out about started participating in organizing computer shows across the mid-west.

Building customer computers during the week and stocking up on computer parts and accessories, Bruce would pack up his van and travel to cities in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania for a two-day weekend computer show.  Once local box stores and Internet retailers made purchasing computers and parts easily accessible to customers, the computer shows became a thing of the past. During this time, Bruce had become a PowerSeller on Ebay, shipping custom-built gaming systems across the U.S.  By the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, the computer market was changing, he shifted his efforts back into the website development and graphic designs.
